Most recent acquisition. Beautiful creature just like its close cousin Betta Macrostoma. The male has a distinct greenish colour on its chin. It is about 10cm for the male and 9cm for the female. Have seen ideii much bigger than these sizes. Not too sure about its breeding habits but definitely a mouthbrooder.
This fish was a recent discovery and found in Pulau Laut, Kalimantan Selatan. Originally called Betta Sp Laut. It was discovered by a Japanese call Idei, hence the name Ideii.
